How does Laser Vaginal Treatment / Rejuvenation work?
CO2 a non-surgical fractional laser system works by optically splitting a laser beam into a series of very small dots that are aimed at the inside wall of the vagina.
At the point of contact, the laser dot removes a tiny area of tissue. This creates a microscopic pinhole around the diameter of a human hair. As the body repairs itself, it stimulates cells to create new healthy tissue at the site of the dot and immediately surrounding it. The laser also works to heat the area between dots, stimulating the activity of specialized cells that create elastin and collagen – the important component of healthy tissue.
Improved blood flow and tissue tone reduces pain, improves sexual and urinary function and may increase sexual gratification.
What are the benefits and indications?
The treatment itself is low risk, relatively painless, and suitable for most women. Dr Vadim Mirmilstein will provide a full Gynaecological assessment and counseling to all women planning to have a laser treatment to determine their suitability prior to undergoing treatment.
Fractional Laser Treatment can improve vaginal environment and dryness similar to hormone replacement therapy. Some patients may still need to seek further treatment, surgery or medication to alleviate their symptoms. The potential benefits of this treatment can include increased tissue quality and elasticity, increased blood flow to the vagina, tightening of the vaginal canal and the rejuvenation of aged, damaged and irritated tissue, helps to normalize the pH of the vagina and reduces recurrent infections for many women. The restoration of a normal vaginal environment and improved tissue quality also increases lubrication.
In suitable patients, potential benefits are improvement in stress/urge incontinence, painful sexual intercourse (dyspareunia), vaginal atrophy, recurrent infections and itchiness, burning and/or dryness associated with menopause. It is important to know that the treatment does not replace hormone replacement therapies.
Clinical results prove that the fast and easy-to-perform vaginal laser treatment is an effective, non-invasive procedure with minimal undesired side effects and contraindications.
What is the recovery after the treatment?
Patient can return to normal daily activities following treatment, however strenuous exercise and very hot baths are not advised, and vaginal intercourse must be avoided for around a week or two.
How long do the results last and how many treatments are required?
The best results (in most cases) are generally achieved from two to three treatments 6-8 weeks apart. Most patients see a significant improvement after their first treatment, but are encouraged to continue with the subsequent sessions, as this ensures the most effective and long-lasting result.
The results of fractional laser vaginal treatments are generally very good, but the extent of improvement varies between individual patients.
Does the laser vaginal treatment needs pain-relief?
The treatment is performed in an office environment without the need for anesthesia and without pain or side effects.
The standard treatment to the vagina takes about 15-30 minutes
How much does the treatment cost?
Exact cost will be provided after the consultation and depends on the number and type of treatments. The average cost is $1000 for 2 vaginal treatments 6-8 weeks apart($500 for each) or $1200 for 3 treatments 6 weeks apart ($400 for each)
